Pricing..... something that is very difficult to set when you're starting out. Some people want cheap, others just want it done and don't care. Some want quality and are willing to pay a bit more and others want it for nothing. Over the years I have learnt to say no. When a job pays next to nothing it is not worth taking the time away from my family to do the job. Some people disagree saying something is better than nothing at all but I don't agree.
I set a fair price for my time and my machinery so that I can earn a wage and slowly pay off my investment. If you try to push this price down further I can't stay in business. Eventually I would run out of money as I'm not getting paid enough and I would have to sell up or close down. I see this sort of thing happen around me all the time. I'll never be a millionaire in this business, all I want is to work for a great boss (that's me!) and be able to have flexible hours to accommodate my family without huge overhead expenses. I love my job, it's creative and productive and I take pride in the end result. I won't let garments out the door if I haven't done my best. When I first started in business I learnt a valuable thing that has stayed with me. Don't be a "BUSY FOOL". The busy fool cuts his prices very low in order to get the work. Because his prices are low he has a lot of customers but he hardly makes any money on each job which means he is too busy, too stressed and mistakes get made. I don't want to be this person. I want to be the one that gets paid enough to spend the time on each job to make it perfect. That's me, so hopefully one day I can help you with your uniform needs too...and make it perfect. Have an awesome day!
