Once upon a time I had a dream that I would work for myself and run my own business. I had no idea where that thought would take me and I had no idea I would end up running an embroidery and uniform shop. The fact that my own daughter is now having to choose career options has made me think about what I wanted and if I've chosen the right path. What if I had gotten that job at Westpac that I so desperately wanted? Or the Trainee Manager job at Betts and Betts that I was short listed for? Where would I be now?
I didn't get those jobs, I embraced the creative side of myself and followed my talent for sewing into Fashion Design. Somehow a series of events after that led me here.... to embroidery, print and clothing. This business has evolved since I started out sewing baby goods in 2002 and I think it's about to take another huge direction, or at the very least, we're going to grow a new branch on this tree.
My talented, artistic daughter loves to draw, and she's darn good at it. I want her to channel this talent and exploit her Mother's business to start to her own business selling printed tees and accessories. Why not when she has all the resources in the world? Her talent lies in character design and these characters are a whole manner of different types and styles which sound like a foreign language to the people of my generation. None the less there is a market for it and I'm encouraging her to come up with some amazing designs. Stay tuned for more.....
